Following graduation, she worked at the National Shawmut Bank in Boston (19391944) as a bank clerk. This was where she met her future husband, Richard. They married July 4, 1944, and settled in Beverly, sharing 69 years of marriage and raising four children. Mil was an active member of the Beverly community, Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader while her children were growing up. She was Prefect of the Sodality of St. John the Evangelist, worked on the Thanksgiving festival and made beautiful afghans raising money for her church. Mil was an avid bowler belonging to the St. John's bowling league for many years.
